Leather furniture has been popular for many years and because of its high cost, has always been something of a status symbol.

Mass production in recent years, together with the advent of dedicated Leather Super Stores has made leather furniture immensely popular and the cost to buy new has fallen dramatically, due largely to foreign imports from volume producers on the continent.

Together with this expanded popularity came an increasing number of requests for repairs to colour damaged sections of upholstery, caused by accidents, contamination, cuts, splits and especially, general wear.

However, it was hard to find anyone to undertake this type of work. Specialised Professional cleaning of leather was not readily available. Whilst many modern finishes are sponge-able, great care should be taken when trying this at home as many leathers have a secondary ‘Antiquing’ application which may be removed by aggressive cleaning - with disastrous results.
